In this video, culture is shown because all the kids were arguing about whether or not to kill the chickens, so they can have some protein in their bodies. Some kids wanted to kill the chickens and some did not want to. One kid did not want to kill the chickens, so she told the Town Council that she was going to leave the town if they killed the chickens. Then some kids went in the chicken pin to protect the chickens, but they ended up killing the chickens and having them for dinner anyway.
Also in this video, I saw informal Sanctions because the green team lost the showdown and everybody still congratulated them. Even though the green team caused them to not get the water slide or the extra pumps nobody was mad at them. All the other teams were clapping for them and telling them how to do the showdown when they could have just ignored them and made fun of them because they got last place. The green team was still really happy that the got last place because everybody was so happy for them.
The last thing I saw in Kid Nation was formal sanctions because when they do a showdown they get prizes if they win. All the teams have to compete against each other to see who wins the jobs. If all the teams finish within an hour they get to choose between a fun prize and a prize that they actually need. One time they had to choose between a porter potty and a T.V, but they ended up choosing the porter potty because they needed that. The other time they had to choose between a waterslide and a water pump, but they didn't get to choose anything because the green team didn't finish within an hour.
