Camping
Next weekend I am going to go camping with a bunch of people from my church. We are leaving next Friday and coming home next Sunday. During the weekend we are going to go in a cave, play in the creek, and we are going to go on a float trip. At the place we are going there is a huge hill that all the kids like to have a race with our bikes. We see who can go down it the fastest. The cave that they have there is really neat to go in. We go to this place every year and have a float trip and its really fun to go because we have a lot of fun. They have a tire swing that you can go on and then jump off of it over the creek and all of the kids do that for like an hour straight.

Something that bugs me
Something that really bugs me is when people try to show off for other people. They try to make everybody think they are so cool by doing stupid things that usually just make them get hurt. They show off to all of their friends to make it look like they are the coolest person ever. It also really bugs me when people come to school with like a boot on their foot and tell everybody that they are hurt and then the next day they come to school and they are perfectly fine. They are just trying to get people to feel sorry for them. People don't really need to show off because in the end it just makes them look like a fool.

This weekend I am going to my friends house. I am going to go with her to something at her church and then I am going to spend the night. On Saturday we are going to go outside and just do a bunch of other stuff around her house. We may go shopping, but her mom said she doesn't know for sure. Tomorrow night there is something going on at her church and she invited me to go to it with her. Some of my other friends are going to go to her house too and we are all going to go to her house afterwards to spend the night. It's going to be a lot of fun and I can't wait to go.

The first thing I saw in the video was a deviant because Jared was mad so he went all crazy. Divad had a snack shop, and he was jealous that she was making money, so he decided to make one of his own. Divad's friends came up to Jared and started yelling at him and telling him that it's a stupid idea, so he yelled at them and tipped over Divad's snack stand. Divad didn't care that he tipped her snack stand over because she said that he was just jealous, and it just makes her work harder. Divad said it didn't bother her, so she just fixed her stand and continued her snack stand.
The next thing I saw in the video was primary deviance because Greg was mean to Nathan, and he is usually isn't mean. Greg is a nice person, and he likes to help out around the town, but lately he was being really mean and pushing him and not letting him help with all the chores. Greg then became nice to Nathan , and they tried to start over and become friends again. Greg made up to Nathan and told him that he knows he was being kind of mean to him, and Nathan apologized to him. When Nathan got the gold star, Greg came up to him and gave him a big hug, because he was proud of him.
The last thing I saw in the video was Social Sanctions because all the kids work toward the gold star. They have to work hard to earn the gold star, so all of the kids are trying to show the town council that they actually work, so they will get the gold star. Some kids will only work because they want the gold star, and then after they get the gold star they stop working. The gold star goes to the person who works the hardest, so people try to get attention so they will get picked. All of the kids have to work hard, so that they will get the gold star because it's worth-twenty thousand dollars. They all want the star, so they can show their parents that they worked hard while they were away from them.

The first thing I saw in the video was coercion because the council made some people help take the trash somewhere and bury it. The trash was starting to smell, so the council decided to take it far away from the town and bury it. They picked a couple people from each district to help with it, and from the yellow district they took Taylor and Lala. Taylor did not want to help out, so she ran off and started screaming and telling them that she wasn't go to help them and that they weren't the boss of her. When she didn't come to help them, the decided to give her another punishment, but she still didn't listen to them.
The next thing I saw in the video was cooperation because each team was trying to achieve being the Upper Class. They had to work really hard to win first place, and earn a reward. The teams had to look in a big bucket of baked beans to find a bunch of cans. All the teams had to find a total of 75 cans to win the reward. The teams all have to work together and cheer their teammates on, so they will win the reward and do good. The red team won the Upper Class because they worked really hard and they cheered on their teammates.
The last thing I saw in the video was Authority because the town council has to take authority over all the kids, so that Bonanza will be a better town. They get to boss everybody around and tell them all what to do, so that they will do things better. The kids have to listen to the council, but some of the kids don't listen to them. Some of the kids think they can do whatever they want, so they just don't do any chores. The council has to make the right decisions for everything, so they can make Bonanza a better town.

In this video, I saw an example of a group because all the people have to work together to make sure the town is running right and nobody gets hurt. They have to make sure they do all their jobs so everybody stays healthy and nobody will be lazy and not do any of there work. The town council is in charge of everybody, and it is there job to make sure everybody is doing what they are supposed to do. They just had an election because some of the kids were not happy with the way the town council was running the town. They think that Taylor is lazy and that she doesn't try to help the town.
I also saw conflict in this video because all the kids had to the showdown, and they all had to compete against each other. All the teams have to work together if they want to get the Upper Class. They were all trying to beat the other three teams to win first place. They had to work together and do the showdown really fast, so there team can get first place. The yellow team got first place in the showdown because they worked together, and they helped each other out.
The last thing I saw in the video is social aggregate because when they do a showdown they are in the same place, but they are not really in one big group. They are all together, but they are in their own separate districts. They still are all friends, but when they do a showdown they have to go against each other and fight for their districts. They don't really get mad when they lose because they know that they can win again next time. The kids are not together during the showdown, but they still talk to each other, and they act like friends still.

Kid Nation 4
The first thing I saw in the video is Social Structure because all the kids belong to a different religion. They were all fighting because they didn't want to have a service where all the kids were in the same room. They wanted to have a service where they split up each of the religions and put them in a separate room, so that none of the kids will fight about what they believe. The kids were pretty mad about the idea of all being together and they started arguing about that. One kid decided that they all have a bonfire and pray over the bonfire about having a better day. They said prayer brought them all closer together.
I have also seen Achieved Status because all the groups are working towards being the Upper Class. They had to do another showdown and all the groups want to be Upper Class because it pays the most money. They all had to work together to be the Upper Class because your whole group has to work together in order to finish first. The blue team won first place and Upper Class and the green team won last place and the laborers. Each group was working really hard during the Showdown, but only one team can earn first place.
Another thing I saw in the video was Social interaction because all the kids had to work together to decide what they wanted after they all completed the Showdown. They had to communicate and decide whether they wanted the Bibles or the mini golf course. Some kids wanted the mini golf course and some wanted the Bibles. They ended up choosing the Bibles because the majority of the kids wanted the Bibles because it was more important to their religion. Some of the kids were mad because they didn't choose the mini golf course, but then they agreed because they saw that the Bibles can make you a better person.
The last thing I saw in the video was Ascribed Status because the kids don't get to choose what position they get in the town. They have to work hard to get the Upper Class position. If they got to choose what position they wanted they would all pick the Upper Class because it gets paid the most and because they don't have to work if they are Upper Class. Their positions are determined on how well they work together. If they work really well together they will get the Upper Class.

Poor President
I think the president was just trying to be nice. He donated a lot of his money to charity which is a really nice thing to do. He said he doesn't feel poor because poor people always just want more of everything and he doesn't want more. Even after he gave away most of his money, he still has more money than most people do. He doesn't seem to upset that he only has one thousand dollars left when he did have twelve thousand dollars left. He is not poor because he has a lot of things, and poor people don't have a lot of things.

Cold Water Challenge
Lately a lot of people have been doing the cold water challenge. The cold water challenge is where you jump into like a creek or pool that is really cold. It is really cold and when you jump in your body is so shocked because the water is so cold. I tried the cold water challenge last night and the water was freezing cold. I didn't expect the water to be that cold and whenever I got out of the pool it was actually really warm outside. If somebody calls you out to do the cold water challenge you have to do it within 24 hours or you have to pay like 100 dollars to the charity that they picked. If somebody does call you out and you do it then you only have to pay 10 dollars to the charity that you picked. This is the first year that I have actually heard of the cold water challenge but I guess it has been around for a couple of years.

Kid Nation 3
In this video, I saw an example of imitation stage because all the kids were acting like adults and pretending they were at a bar. They all stayed up really late and had a party in one of the shops. They were drinking root beer and acting like it was beer because they were trying to act like their parents. They were up really late and they didn't get enough sleep, so they were all really crabby and angry in the morning.
I also saw anticipatory socialization in this video, because some of the kids were willing to accept some of the new rules. The town council made a new law that the kids had a curfew of 9:30. Some of the kids were complaining, but the other kids didn't really care and they just accepted it. One of the kids even stood up for what he thought about having to go to bed early. The older kids were mad because they like going to bed late.
In this video, I also saw an example of desocialization because the kids had to give up some of their old norms, attitudes, and behaviors. When they did the showdown if they all got done within five minutes they got a choice between something that they need and something that they want. Their choices were between 40 boxes of pizza and a microwave with some cocoa powder. The town council chose the microwave with some cocoa powder. Some of the kids had to give up their regular decisions and not get to eat the pizza.

In this video, culture is shown because all the kids were arguing about whether or not to kill the chickens, so they can have some protein in their bodies. Some kids wanted to kill the chickens and some did not want to. One kid did not want to kill the chickens, so she told the Town Council that she was going to leave the town if they killed the chickens. Then some kids went in the chicken pin to protect the chickens, but they ended up killing the chickens and having them for dinner anyway.
Also in this video, I saw informal Sanctions because the green team lost the showdown and everybody still congratulated them. Even though the green team caused them to not get the water slide or the extra pumps nobody was mad at them. All the other teams were clapping for them and telling them how to do the showdown when they could have just ignored them and made fun of them because they got last place. The green team was still really happy that the got last place because everybody was so happy for them.
The last thing I saw in Kid Nation was formal sanctions because when they do a showdown they get prizes if they win. All the teams have to compete against each other to see who wins the jobs. If all the teams finish within an hour they get to choose between a fun prize and a prize that they actually need. One time they had to choose between a porter potty and a T.V, but they ended up choosing the porter potty because they needed that. The other time they had to choose between a waterslide and a water pump, but they didn't get to choose anything because the green team didn't finish within an hour.

Real Estate-Agent
All day I have to take people around neighborhoods to look at magical homes. They think they are so cool, but I think they are just really boring. It's just the same things over and over again. In all the houses they have little dwarfs that do everything for them and they have little doors that can lead them to secret places like Narnia. They also have buttons that they can press that will lead them to anything in the world that they want and robots that will do their homework and clean their room within seconds. The houses are always neon colors like bright blue, neon green, and hot pink. The colors of the houses are kind of cool, but other than that they are just the same stuff every time.

Kid Nation
In this video, power is being used when the town council gets to be in control of all of the kids. Their job is to watch the kids, see who is helping out the most, comfort the kids, and to be a leader for all the kids. They also have to keep everything under control and make sure all the kids are doing good and not fighting. Sometimes the leaders didn't do their job how the kids wanted them to and it caused a conflict so other kids had to step in and act like a leader.
Also, in this video I saw class conflict because some kids did not like how they did some things so it caused the kids to start fighting. They eventually split the kids up into districts and each district had a different job to do. At breakfast, the kids started fighting because some kids ate all the breakfast and didn't leave any for the rest of them. Also, kids were causing conflict because some districts hardly did any work and they got a lot of money while some kids did a lot of work and only got a nickel.
The last thing I saw in this video was perspective because the town council was made up of four people that like totally different things, yet they still get along and don't fight. They have to work together to figure out which kid they wanted to give the gold star to. The town council has to talk at the town meetings and figure out which kid they think has shown the most responsibility.

Dear Mrs. DeBolt,
My favorite movie is the Hunger Games series and Frozen. I like to do a lot of things outdoors like running, playing basketball, hiking and other sports. My favorite color is blue, which a lot of people know. Almost everything I own is blue because I love it so much. Every summer I go to Branson five times with other families that I know. When we are in Branson we spend most of our time at Silver Dollar City and White Water. The rest of the time is spent in the pool or doing other fun things like riding bumper boats or go-carts.
An interesting story about me is when I got to go to Wyoming. My family went there about four years ago and it was really cool because we got to see all the mountains, lakes, and other amazing sites. I also got to see some animals I have never seen before like Buffalo and Elk. One time we had to stop driving because there Buffalo crossing the street and we didn't want to run over them. I cant wait to go back there some time!
I do not have very much experience with computers and I am not very good with them either. In this class, I want to learn how to type, which we are already doing, and I want to learn how to do all kinds of things with the computer.
Sincerely,
Melissa Wolk
Video Games
I think video games do not make kids more violent. Video games are just a way for kids to play games outside of school for fun. Kids are in school for most of the day, so when they get home they want to go play video games and beat up zombies. Kids don't want to hurt actual people. They just want to have a way they can have fun.

Kid Nation!
-
Kid Nation is about pioneer kids going to Bonanza City.
During 40 days, 40 kids are going to live in Bonanza City and create their own nation.
They decide who are going to be the leaders.
There are four leaders.
There is a book showing information in an old building.
There is a gold star that is going to be given away to a kid.
The star is worth 20,000 dollars.
There is a lot of drama and the kids are accusing other kids of not working as hard as them.
The boys and girls have to sleep in their own houses with small beds.
The kids have to make their own food.
The kids have a hard time to cook the food.
The second day goes a lot better.
The kids have a better breakfast because there is a lot of different choices, but there isn't enough food.
The older kids pick on the younger kids.
They are all suppose to cooperate and organize their town.
They divide the districts and have different colors.
The four leaders choose kids to be in their district.
There is a green team, blue team, yellow team, and a red team.
Someone from the blue team wrote "blue" all over every sign in Bonanza city.
Kids get paid for jobs and get to buy things at stores.
The kids have showdowns to decide who gets what job.
There is the upper class, merchant class, cooks, and laborers.
The upper class gets $1 per kid.
The merchant class gets 50 cents per kid.
The cooks get 25 cents per kid.
The laborers get 10 cents per kid.
The red team is the upper class, and the blue is the merchant class.
The yellow team is the cooks, and the green team is the laborers.
The kids get to choose their prize, seven outhouses, or a television.
They chose the seven outhouses so that the 40 kids don't have to wait.
The little kids like to chase jack rabbits. The first town meeting was about anyone disliking the council. Some kids disliked it because some kids didn't do their jobs. At every town meeting, the adult asks if anyone wants to leave. At the town meeting, the leaders also decided who gets the gold star. The leaders chose Sophia to take the gold star, and Sophia then told her parents. Sophia's mother just couldn't believe it. At the end of the Kid Nation movie, all of the kids took "shots" of root beer. This must be a fun experience, and I would have a lot of fun if I went to Bonanza City.

Missing Assignments
Something that really bugs me is missing assignments. Missing assignments bug me because they are a pain. When you have a missing assignment, you have to go to the A.I.R room. If you don't have a missing assignment, then you get to stay in your paws class. a missing assignment is an assignment that you didn't turn in and is now late. You can have missing assignments for all classes like Communication Arts, Social Studies, math, writing, technology, and health.

Minecraft
Minecraft is a game with blocks and other items like flowers and mushrooms made entirely out of pixels. Minecraft is an online game. You can build structures, play with your friends, have different mods to enable you to do more things. When it is night in Minecraft, mobs, enemies and different creatures, come to attack you, but only the hostile mobs like creepers, zombies, skeletons, spiders, and endermen. Also, if you place torches on the ground, the mobs won't spawn. When you make different designs and houses, it is very fun!

Tigers
Tigers are my favorite animal. they can be orange with black stripes. They can be white with black stripes. they can be white only (albino). Also, there can be arctic tigers too. There are many different kinds of tigers. The tigers' population is dropping really fast because poachers are killing them for the tigers' meat and skin. The tigers population is probably about 2,500 in the world! Tigers are one of the big cats. Tigers are very strong and smart. Their skin is so beautiful! No wonder poachers kill them,
but it is still wrong.

If I find myself in front of seven doors, and a voice in my head tells me that these doors lead me to different places. I would choose the sixth door because it is Middle Earth. I chose Middle Earth because those three movies were one of my favorite movies. If I chose Middle Earth, I would get to see hobbits, dwarves, wizards, and other creatures. Once
I'm done with that, I'd go to the door that leads to Hogwarts because I'd be able to use magical power with a wand and defeat evil enemies.

Report Cards
Something that I'm absolutely sure that I will never forget about being this age is how good my grades are. I'm sure of this because I have really good grades. Adults forget this because this was a long time ago, and I'm sure that they don't keep their report cards or progress reports. If people do keep their report cards, then they might remember it when they are adults.

Kansas City's Verrückt Water Slide Is Insane
![]() |
Picture From Here |
Kansas City's Verrückt is Jeff Henry's best creation yet. There is a 17 story drop that gets you up to 65 miles per hour. After the drop, there is a five story bump that you ride over. Finally, you get off at the bottom and the conveyer system brings the raft back to the top for another person to go. The Verrückt is taller than Brazil's 14 story tall Insano and the statue of liberty. It is also taller than Niagara falls. In conclusion, this is the best water slide yet!
